YEAR 3 VISIT SAREHOLE MILL

Y3 visited Sarehole Mill to learn about the River Cole as part of their Rivers topic.

Last Wednesday, Y3 visited Sarehole Mill to learn about the River Cole as part of their Rivers topic.  The have returned with truly impressive gains in their knowledge!

Despite it being a horribly rainy day, they have come back full of new vocabulary (ford, confluence, tributary, meander, weir, erosion, deposition, weathering) and they can explain what each word means.

They can talk knowledgeably about their river speed investigation in timed the journey of sticks floating on the river.  They explored whether the river moved faster at the meander or the weir.

They also learned about how the river’s flow is used to drive the water wheel to power the mill.
