Worship Council

Pupil leadership is an important aspect of collective worship at St James. Members of the Worship Council take on a range of responsibilities during worship, including welcoming the school community, holding the doors, lighting the worship candle and leading prayers. Through these roles, pupils develop confidence, responsibility and a deeper understanding of the significance of worship within the life of the school. Members of the Worship Council are also given opportunities to plan and lead collective worship, enabling them to shape worship experiences that are meaningful and relevant to their peers. This active involvement strengthens pupil ownership of worship and supports the development of spirituality, leadership and service, as pupils live out the school's vision and Christian value of love.

Our worship council is made up of representatives from years 4-6. They are invited to attend regular Worship Council meetings, where they influence, direct and organise whole school worship events, discuss matters of faith and promote the school's vision, values and ethos. In addition to this, they also resource and run the reflection area that can be used by the whole school.
