As more complex needs arrive in schools, we are keen to learn more. Staff training is reviewed regularly to ensure that they feel enabled to support your child as best as they can. Some of the training staff at St James CE have engaged in are:

- TA mediation – strategies to facilitate and promote independence
- AET level 1 training and Good Autism Practice (GAP)
- Effective Quality First Teaching
- Makaton
- Literacy toolbox approach
- REACT UK - Positive Handling training - developing behaviour de-escalation techniques and safer handling of aggression.
- Understanding and supporting ADHD and Trauma informed practices (delivered by City of Birmingham schools behaviour outreach service)
- Precision Teaching (word reading and spelling).
