At St James Church of England Primary School, collective worship and spirituality are carefully planned to help every child flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Rooted in our Christian vision and core value of Love, our worship themes encourage children to reflect on themselves, understand others and consider how they can make a positive difference in the world.

Each half-term, collective worship follows a planned theme linked to our school vision, Christian values and Bible teachings, while celebrating the diversity of our multi-faith community. Our planning incorporates key points in the Christian calendar, including Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter, as well as recognising and celebrating important festivals such as Diwali, Eid and Vaisakhi. We also mark significant national and global events, including Black History Month, Anti-Bullying Week, Earth Day and other occasions that encourage children to think deeply about justice, equality, stewardship and caring for others.

Our approach to spirituality is woven throughout school life using the Windows, Mirrors and Doors model. Children are invited to look through Windows to learn about the world and others, into Mirrors to reflect on their own thoughts, feelings and beliefs, and through Doors to consider how they can respond through their words and actions. Reflection areas, class reflection logs, pupil-led worship and opportunities to serve others help children develop spiritually every day, enabling them to 'Let Their Light Shine' within our school family and beyond.
